α-Centaurid meteor shower

The α-Centaurid meteor shower will be active from 28 January to 21 February, producing its peak rate of meteors around 8 February. Over this period, there will be a chance of seeing α-Centaurid meteors whenever the shower’s radiant point – in the constellation Centaurus – is above the horizon, with the number of visible meteors increasing the higher the radiant point is in the sky.

The radiant will rise around midnight from the east and the shower may be observed until sunrise. The shower will peak at a rate of around 6 meteors per hour.
