September ε-Perseid meteor shower

The September ε-Perseid meteor shower will be active from 5 September to 21 September, producing its peak rate of meteors around 9 September.

Over this period, there will be a chance of seeing September ε-Perseid meteors whenever the shower’s radiant point – in the constellation Perseus – is above the horizon, with the number of visible meteors increasing the higher the radiant point is in the sky.

In India the shower will not be visible before around 21:30 each night, when its radiant point rises above our eastern horizon. It will then remain active until dawn breaks around 6:00.

The shower is likely produce its best displays in the hours around 04:00 IST, when its radiant point is highest in the sky.

At its peak, the shower is expected to produce a nominal rate (ZHR) of around 5 meteors per hour.
