Zero Shadow Day, as we had discussed in our earlier posts, occurred in Coastal Karnataka last week beginning 24th April with Mangaluru moving up each day. This year due to the ongoing Lock-down, PAAC members were at home and couldn’t gather to celebrate and observe the astronomical phenomenon.
Instead, every member observed it on various days at their respective homes, enabling PAAC to observe Zero Shadow Day across the Coastal areas of the State on various days.

Stencils & Social Message
We forgot to mention that if two or three stencils were made to spell out words or sentences or even images and were placed exactly above one another separated by a distance perfectly on top of one another, the sun would shine through both only on Zero Shadow Day.
PAAC members tried this as well with great success:
Videos and Live Streams
PAAC Facebook Page hosted the Live Stream of the Zero Shadow Moments at Mangalore and Udupi for viewers from various locations to watch: Mangalore Stream , Udupi Stream
Varalakshmi also sent us a timelapse she shot from Kundapur where you can see the Shadow change sides with a moment in between where there is Zero Shadow.
Media
Our friends in the Media also helped us reach out and provided great coverage before and after the event for which we are very Grateful..
Let’s hope the clouds clear when the Sun returns from the Tropic of Cancer for the Zero Shadow Days later in this year.
