In the period of academic development, with constant webinars and online lectures, PAAC also organized a series of lectures online for astronomers from all across India. The sessions were held on 18th and 19th of June 2020 in a complete online format with the participants and speakers participating and presenting remotely.
The Speakers Included,
- Prof. Uday Shankar, Emeritus Professor from Raman Research Institute who shared his knowledge and experience from his adventures in learning about the Universe. Titled, Adventures in Cosmology : From Ground, Water and Space, Prof. Shankar started with cosmology and spoke about the various experiments he conducted with his team to study the re-ionization period of the Universe.
- Mr. Madhusudan, from Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium shared his fascination with Tides. Titled Tides : The Familiar Unknown, he spoke about tidal forces that occur in a gravitational field and shed light on the word “Tides”, clearing our belief that tides only means the rise and fall of water surface over a day’s time.
- Mr. Atul Bhat, from PAAC, shared his joy of exploring various objects in the Night sky moving forward and backward in time using the software called Stellarium, in his talk titled The Celestial Sphere: A Virtual Tour.

About the Workshop
- The workshop was organized by PAAC along with the Department of Physics in association with IQAC.
- The workshop was Inaugurated by H.H. Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, President of Udupi Sri Admar Mutt Education Council.
- 3 sessions were organized successfully.
- The sessions were all delivered as Online Lectures through Online Meeting application Google Meet and were also streamed live on YouTube.
- 321 Participants from all across India spanning from J&K to TN, Guj to Assam participated and attended the lectures
- Each session included Q&A after the talk and all participants who provided feedback were provided with E-Certificates.
- The workshop has led to measures of extending PAAC from students of Poornaprajna College to a larger audience as many participants showed interest in subscribing to PAAC’s feed.
- The workshop report was also covered in several media outlets to whom PAAC is very grateful.
